It's pretty much status quo in the State Media football Top 25 with no movement among the first 21 teams

Last week's Top 20 went a combined 19-0, and No. 21 lost a seven-point game to the No. 5-ranked team.

All told, this week's State Poll voters saw no reason for change.

The first 21 teams held their positions this week, with last week's No. 24 and 25 inching up to the No. 22 and 23 spots. Sherwood and Westlake, teams that were fixtures in the Top 25 in the 1990s and early 2000s, debut at No. 24 and 25 this week, respectively.

Archbishop Spalding remains the unanimous No. 1 team followed by St. Frances Academy, DeMatha, Riverdale Baptist and Quince Orchard.

This week, there are two Top 25 clashes to round out MPSSAA regular season play and one national contest of note. No. 5 Quince Orchard, coming off a 24-17 win over No. 21 Northwest, clashes with No. 24 Sherwood in a MoCo Showdown. No. 15 Arundel takes on No. 23 Annapolis. Also, No. 10 Milford Mill Academy figures to get a stiff challenge from former Top 25 Loyola Blakefield, which fell from the rankings this week following a 56-3 loss to top-ranked Archbishop Spalding. On the national level, St. Frances Academy takes on IMG Academy (Fla.). This is St. Frances' fourth game against a national Top 10 team this season.
